Job Description And Duties

Under the supervision and general direction of the Correctional Plant Manager II (CPMII), Plant Operations, the M&SSI will operate in the Maintenance Vocational Building, according to policy and procedure.

Receive, verify, and confirm all delivered goods conform to purchase order for incoming shipments. Supervise proper receipt of supplies by verifying counts, item identification, and condition. Prepare all documents for receipt and issues of supplies. Fill STD. 115, Storeroom Supplies Order, on a regular basis, and make arrangements for delivery. Operate delivery equipment safely at all times, including: delivery vehicles and material handling equipment such as forklifts (if trained), and pallet jacks.

Maintain a work area that is clean, neat, and organized.

Contact vendors and properly document discussion in order to rectify discrepancies or make arrangements for returns and/or replacements. Review open purchase orders and make the necessary contacts to obtain items pending delivery in order to close purchase orders in a timely manner. Conduct physical inventory in accordance with procedures. Research inventory discrepancies and submit documentation to adjust inventory when required. On a daily basis, account for tools (shadow board);

lend, replace, dispose of, and/or scribe tools, bits, and blades.

Maintain inventory at or above par levels to ensure staff have the parts and tools needed for maintenance. Order parts as needed to maintain adequate stock. Maintains all Plant Operations warehouses and stores and provides staff with parts and tools as needed with proper documentation.

Assist Plant Operations management in various warehousing and clerical functions in day-to-day operations. Acquire training and knowledge to safely operate manual/motorized equipment and vehicles to receive, store, and deliver goods; train and direct the activities of Plant Operations staff; develop and maintain desk procedures.

Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to: adhere to Department policies, rules and procedures; submit administrative requests including leave, travel, and training in a timely and appropriate manner; accurately report time and submit timesheets by the due date. Attend all training, meetings, and seminars as needed or required. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

San Quentin Rehab Center is California’s oldest and best-known correctional institution, which was established on the site currently known as Point San Quentin, in July of 1852, as an answer to the rampant lawlessness in California at the time. The prison rests overlooking the bay on 432 acres and is located just 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the county of Marin.

The walled prison is made up of four (4) large cell blocks (West, South, North, and East Block), one (1) maximum security cell block (the Adjustment Center), Central Health Care Service Building, a medium security dorm setting and a minimum-security firehouse.
