We serve more than 4,000 seniors across our San Fernando Valley campuses, delivering personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs, from independent living to specialized healthcare programs.

The responsibilities of the Senior Director of Construction, include, but are not limited to:

Enterprise Capital Planning, Construction Leadership, and Owner’s Representation
  • Provide organization-wide leadership and oversight for construction, renovation, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects across LAJH campuses and project sites.
  • Serve as LAJH’s senior owner’s representative and primary escalation point for project scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, compliance, operational impact, and delivery risk.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support long-range capital planning, project prioritization, budgeting, phasing, and resource allocation.
  • Support development of multi-year capital project plans, deferred maintenance priorities, infrastructure assessments, and campus modernization strategies.
  • Maintain visibility across all major construction and facilities-related initiatives to identify dependencies, risks, timing concerns, operational disruptions, and budget impacts.
  • Participate in full project evaluation and development processes, including feasibility, cost, schedule, constructability, operational readiness, regulatory readiness, and risk considerations.
  • Make recommendations to leadership regarding cost, scheduling, phasing, project delivery strategy, disruption mitigation, construction issues, and enterprise-level capital priorities.
Facilities Engineering and Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate closely with Facilities Engineering leadership through a dotted-line relationship to align construction projects, facilities operations, infrastructure needs, maintenance priorities, and operational readiness.
  • Serve as a senior liaison between executive leadership, Facilities Engineering, Operations, Finance, Compliance, clinical leaders, IT, Security, external partners, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and coordinate assigned project team members and support resources, including project coordinators, cost control resources, technical advisory staff, planner/designers, interiors staff, signage/way finding resources, maintenance staff, and other internal or external partners.
  • Work with users, departments, and operational partners to budget time, gather input, secure operational feedback, and confirm project requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with cross-functional teams and maintain strong customer relationships with internal partners and client groups.
  • Coordinate effectively with co-venture partners, healthcare systems, community-based healthcare centers, and other high-profile external organizations to align project scope, timelines, regulatory expectations, operational needs, and partner commitments.
Construction Management and Site Oversight
  • Oversee construction activities at LAJH’s main campus and/or off-site project locations from inception through project close-out.
  • Direct and manage outsourced construction management firms, architectural and engineering firms, general contractors, vendors, inspectors, and assigned project team members.
  • Schedule and coordinate vendors, contractors, inspections, site access, owner activities, operational interfaces, and construction logistics.
