Operations Manager, Retail & Store Manager
We are looking for a strong and experienced leader to take on the role of Site General Manager and drive overall success across all areas of the site. This is a hands‑on leadership position responsible for daily operations, team development, and delivering a high standard of service and performance.
ResponsibilitiesOversee all day‑to‑day site operations including retail, fuel, and food service, ensuring everything runs efficiently and meets company standards for cleanliness, safety, and customer experience. This includes maintaining the overall image of the site including lot, pumps, restrooms, and showers.
Lead, hire, train, and develop a full team including managers and hourly staff while building a culture of accountability, engagement, and low turnover. Work alongside the team setting expectations and leading by example.
Manage the financial performance of the site, including budgeting, forecasting, and understanding key drivers such as food cost, labor cost, shrink, waste, fuel, and merchandise margins. Make real‑time adjustments to ensure the site meets or exceeds profitability goals.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations including food safety, fuel compliance, and age‑restricted sales.
Oversee inventory controls, conduct audits, and manage vendor relationships to ensure accurate deliveries, proper stock levels, and efficient operations.
Communicate regularly with the team to align on goals, performance expectations, safety, and overall site success while identifying opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications- Strong leadership experience in a travel center, convenience store, or food service environment.
- Proven ability to manage and develop teams while reducing turnover.
- Experience with P & L management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong understanding of food service operations including labor, food cost, and waste management.
- Ability to multitask and lead in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with a proven track record in truck‑stop and QSR operations.
- Working knowledge of restaurant management systems.
- Ability to work as scheduled—50+ hours per week.
- Ability to be “on call” for store needs as they arise.
- Ability to perform all non‑management activities when needed.
- Candidate may also be required to successfully complete additional training or certifications for this role, including but not limited to Serv Safe or an equivalent Food Manager Safety program, ABC/Age Restricted Certification, and UST Operator Certification.
