Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager II, the incumbent serves as the Maintenance Manager I (MMI), Fleet Optimization Manager responsible for developing, establishing, and managing a wide variety of complex support activities for the entire district. The role oversees fleet optimization and utilization, equipment management, rental contracts, and coordination with other district programs to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities- Develop, establish, and manage support activities for the district.
- Manage optimization and utilization of fleet equipment.
- Supervise equipment management and rental contracts.
- Coordinate transportation of equipment and service to other district programs.
- Act as liaison for the Division of Equipment, optimizing statewide equipment movement and delivering the Fleet Acquisition Plan.
- Oversee the team for maintenance facilities repairs and district warehouse operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, protective equipment, and operational policies.
- Report to the district headquarters and maintain communication with field locations as required.
- Valid Class C California Driver's License.
- Eligibility to sit for the Caltrans Maintenance Manager I examination.
- Experience in fleet management, maintenance operations, or related support functions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a climate‑controlled office and travel to field sites in varying weather conditions.
Position located at 1604 S B St., Stockton, San Joaquin County. The role requires working in a climate‑controlled office and traveling to field locations, potentially at night or in inclement weather. Employees must be able to commute to the headquarters as needed; business travel may be required. Telework may be allowed at the department’s discretion.
Salary$7,826.00 – $9,728.00 per month. New‑to‑state candidates may be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range.
