Position SummaryThe Advanced Practice Manager is responsible for the overall administrative, operational, and financial management of Mercy Clinic Pediatrics – Fenton. This leader partners closely with physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and caregivers to ensure exceptional patient care, operational excellence, caregiver engagement, and achievement of organizational goals. The Advanced Practice Manager provides leadership and oversight for daily clinic operations, workforce management, patient experience initiatives, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement activities.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive accessible, high-quality pediatric care while supporting caregivers in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Scope of influence and complexity may include oversight of multiple providers, expanded caregiver span of control, indirect reports, and accountability for operational, financial, and patient satisfaction outcomes.
- Provide direct supervision and leadership for clinic caregivers and support staff.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain high-performing team members.
- Ensure role-based training and comprehensive orientation for new caregivers.
- Manage staff scheduling and productivity to meet patient access and operational needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
- Foster a positive culture that promotes caregiver engagement, collaboration, and accountability.
- Coordinate and implement caregiver engagement initiatives and action plans.
- Lead patient experience initiatives and performance improvement efforts.
- Monitor patient satisfaction metrics and develop action plans to drive results.
- Manage service recovery activities and address patient concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Promote a culture focused on compassionate, family-centered pediatric care.
- Manage provider schedules to maximize patient access and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with physicians and APPs to support productivity, quality, and growth objectives.
- Communicate regularly with providers and staff regarding operational updates, initiatives, and performance goals.
- Connect providers and caregivers with educational resources, training opportunities, and support tools to achieve value-based care outcomes.
- Ensure consistent implementation of Mercy operational standards and clinic best practices.
- Monitor clinic workflows and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee timely completion of assigned work queues, including:
- Good Faith Estimate (GFE)
- Referral Management
- Follow-Up Activities
- Support deployment and optimization of electronic health record (EHR) systems and technology tools.
- Maintain compliance with all Mercy policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Monitor clinic financial performance, including:
- Visit volumes
- Denial management
- Prior authorization processes
- Productivity metrics
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Support budgeting initiatives and resource allocation decisions.
- Partner with leadership to achieve growth, quality, and operational goals.
- Coordinate with facilities management to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming clinic environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and infection prevention standards.
- Address facility concerns promptly to minimize disruption to patient care and clinic operations.
