The Doe Run Company is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the financial operations of the SEMO division, ensuring accurate accounting, cost control, compliance, and effective financial reporting. This position is based out of our Buick Resource Division in Boss, MO.
Based in St. Louis, Missouri, The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company and one of the largest lead producers in the Western Hemisphere. Dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production, Doe Run has facilities in Missouri, Washington, and Arizona and operates one of the world's largest, single-site lead recycling facilities, located in Boss, MO. This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan. Benefits start on the first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various customer discount programs.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in financial accounting.
- Experience supervising or managing accounting staff preferred.
- Experience preparing and reviewing budgets, forecasts and financial statements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adaptive, and People Soft.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Manages the closing process for the division and ensures the timely closing of books and submission of financial reports. Ensures proper documentation and analysis for all financial transactions within the division's general ledger and subsystems. - Internal Controls & Compliance
- Maintains internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial transactions. Makes recommendations for process improvements when needed. Coordinates internal and external audits. - Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff. Ensure staff are trained in accounting standards, compliance, and reporting requirements. Set and review team goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and ethical financial practices. - Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist the Operations Controller in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts as needed. - Leadership & Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with other departments and provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support overall company objectives.
Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:
- General office conditions. May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, talk, and hear; occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision. May be required to visit operations for audit purposes.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 5 pounds.
