The Opportunity
The Director, Technology Stewardship provides strategic leadership in advancing workforce innovation and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) adoption Director leads initiatives that strengthen Magnet’s leadership in technology-enabled talent development and supports the delivery of Magnet’s AI priorities and strategic objectives.
This role leads the development and implementation of technology stewardship initiatives that build AI literacy, adoption capacity, and responsible technology practices among employers, post-secondary institutions, workforce organizations, and learners. The Director also leads the design, delivery, and growth of strategic partnerships, programs, and thought leadership initiatives that position Magnet as a national leader in responsible technology adoption.
The Director identifies and advances new funding opportunities, supports revenue diversification, and works collaboratively across Magnet to embed technology stewardship principles into programs and services. Through strategic leadership, partnership development, and innovation, the Director contributes to Magnet’s long‑term impact, sustainability, and leadership in the future of work.
Key responsibilities:
- Leads the development of short‑ and long‑term business plans focussed on advancing workforce innovation through AI technology stewardship, responsible AI adoption and technology‑enabled talent development initiatives and training programs. Supports the pursuit of new business to secure funding and revenue sources to maintain sustainability.
- Supports the Executive Director and the senior leadership team with the development of strategic and business plans to align with Magnet, OVPRI and TMU priorities and objectives while advancing Magnet's AI strategy and technology stewardship initiatives.
- Creates strategies for the design, development and execution of training programs based on audience needs. Designs tailored AI and technology stewardship learning solutions for corporations, organizations and government sectors, by consulting with clients to better understand client training needs and expected benefits of training, target audience, delivery method, logistics and other requirements.
- Develops project scope, direction, deliverables and goals, critical paths, identifies and allocates required resources, monitors, reviews project budgets, deadlines and makes project plan adjustments. Ensures timely resolution of issues which may stall or impede project execution and effectively manages deliverables throughout project execution to closeout.
- Oversees and manages the daily operational activities and the delivery of AI technology stewardship programs. Develops program budgets and seeks approval from the Executive
- Director and Senior Director. Manages and monitors budgets and expenses and makes adjustments as required.
