About the Company
A long-established, multi-platform media group headquartered in Asia is seeking a Chief Operating Officer for its North America operations. The group operates a portfolio of print and digital media properties serving Chinese-speaking communities, with an ambitious mandate to transform its North America business into a digital-first, streaming and new media operation.
The RoleAs COO of North America, you will own the region's P&L and operations end to end, reporting to group executive management. This is a transformation mandate: lead the evolution from a traditional media operation into a modern new media business.
Key responsibilities:- Regional P&L ownership — full accountability for North America revenue, cost structure, and operating performance across print, digital, events, and new business lines
- Digital & streaming transformation — lead the build-out and scaling of digital properties, streaming/video platforms, and social-first content distribution; shift audience and revenue mix decisively toward online
- Operations leadership — oversee day-to-day operations across editorial support functions, advertising sales, circulation/distribution, production, and back office; drive process modernization
- Commercial growth — work hand-in-hand with sales leadership to grow advertising, sponsorship, and integrated marketing revenue, including new digital ad products and subscription/membership models
- Organization building — recruit, structure, and develop the North America team; manage senior direct reports; build a performance culture across a multi-site operation (US and Canada)
- Group alignment — represent North America in group strategy; work effectively with HQ while running the region with genuine local autonomy
- New media / online media / streaming background — significant leadership experience at a digital publisher, streaming platform, social/short-video platform, or a traditional media company that successfully digitalized. Pure print or broadcast-only backgrounds will not be a fit
- 10+ years of progressive management experience
, including senior operating roles with full P&L or large-team responsibility - Proven track record of operating or scaling digital media businesses in the US market — audience growth, monetization, or platform operations
- Fluent Chinese, including reading and writing — the role works daily with Chinese-language content
- Fluent professional English; comfortable operating bilingually in a US environment
- Based in or willing to relocate to Los Angeles
- A rare COO mandate with genuine transformation scope — not maintaining a legacy operation, but building its digital future
- Latitude to shape strategy, team, and new business lines with group-level backing
- Competitive executive compensation package, commensurate with experience
