The Office of Correctional Safety (OCS) supports the mission of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The OCS mission is to protect the public and serve the CDCR investigative and security interests.
The OCS is the primary departmental link with allied law enforcement agencies and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES).
The Office of Correctional Safety is comprised of the following sub-units:
- Special Service Unit (SSU)
- Emergency Operations Unit (EOU)
- Emergency Planning and Management Unit (EPMU)
- Specialized Technology and Investigations Unit (STIU)
- Criminal Intelligence Analysis Unit (CIAU)
- Investigative Training Unit (ITU)
Under the direction of the Special Agent-In-Charge (SAC), OCS, the Senior Special Agent, Fugitive Apprehension Team (FAT), is responsible for the management and supervision of the activities of an OCS field office. The incumbent provides supervision and training to staff, coordinating and monitoring their conduct of investigations, arrests, and warrant service involving CDCR incarcerated individuals, escapees, supervised persons, parolees at large (PALs), and employees.
The incumbent performs a variety of duties associated with the investigation, location, and apprehension of PALs, escapees, and other fugitives; personally conducts the most difficult and complex investigations; and is responsible for establishing and maintaining liaison with other law enforcement agencies.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
Th e California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real time updates throughput the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress.

Working ConditionsThe Bay Area FAT office is located in a secured access building in the city of Hercules within Contra Costa County. Some travel may be required.
