OverviewThe Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring material, parts, assemblies, and finished devices meet all defined acceptance criteria.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- General:
- Acquiring, recording, and entering quality data using PC or tablet interface
- Maintaining accurate records of all inspection data in accordance with documented procedures
- Reading and interpreting basic drawing and specification details for inspection activities
- Identifying, documenting, and addressing quality related issues per established procedures and work instructions, including:
- Quarantining or segregating nonconforming products and dispositioning according to documented procedures
- Engaging with Operations leads employees to review quality issues found
- Developing and helping to implement recommendations for improvement based on data collection, including:
- Participating in Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to improve internal quality processes
- Assisting in the development of Work Instructions and suggesting improvements to enhance and improve Quality inspection activities
- Conducting and/or reviewing First Article Inspections (FAIs) based on drawings and specifications
- Assisting with Return Material Authorization (RMA) activities as required
- Acting as work coverage for other Quality and Operations roles as needed
- Additional duties as requested or required
- Incoming:
- Inspecting incoming goods as required according to drawings and specifications following Acceptance Quality Level (AQL) sampling plans, including:
- Mechanical and electrical components such as printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Finished goods and assemblies
- Material such as metals, fabrics, and plastics
- Labeling and packaging
- Performing status changes in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Overseeing the calibration of all inspection equipment
- Maintaining calibration schedule and coordinating with calibration vendor to have all inspection equipment calibrated before due dates
- Quarantining instruments that are outside of the calibration window
- Ensuring non-calibrated instruments are labeled accordingly
- Inspecting incoming goods as required according to drawings and specifications following Acceptance Quality Level (AQL) sampling plans, including:
- Final, Sewing:
- Conducting inspection and testing on in-process and finished sewn goods to documented Work Instructions, including:
- Verifying dimensions and features based on drawings and specifications
- Identifying defects in stitching, materials, construction, etc.
- Reviewing labels for accuracy and clarity
- Assisting with packaging finished goods according to documented Work Instructions:
- Folding and primary packaging of finished sewn goods
- Printing and ensuring the correct Instructions for Use (IFUs) are included in the packaging
- Supporting additional packaging functions as needed
- Conducting inspection and testing on in-process and finished sewn goods to documented Work Instructions, including:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Competencies- Must have strong attention to detail
- Must be mechanically inclined and have experience with hand tools and pneumatic equipment
- Must have basic knowledge of quality system requirement, such as ISO, FDA, etc.
- Must be knowledgeable in the operation of inspections equipment as applicable (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, hardness tester, optical comparator, etc.)
- Must understand calibration activities
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand drawings/blueprints & specification, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
- Responds well to questions and writes clearly and informatively
- Follows instruction, policies and procedures; responds to management direction
- Is consistently at work and on time
- Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals
