Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Gordonville

As a Quality Assurance Technician at Stoltzfus Meats, your main job is to help make sure everything we produce is safe, high quality, and meets all the rules-whether they're from the government, our customers, or our own standards. You'll be working hands‑on in the plant, checking products, equipment, labels, and sanitation, and helping us stay on track.

A Few Things You'll Be Responsible For
  • Living out The Stoltzfus Way and supporting our core values.
  • Being a positive team member and treating others with respect.
  • Completing inspection reports and keeping good records.
  • Checking equipment and facility cleanliness before and during production.
  • Making sure sanitation procedures (SSOPs) are being followed.
  • Reviewing production processes to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Auditing operations and suggesting ways to improve.
  • Taking samples and entering data for tracking.
  • Checking incoming products to make sure they meet our standards.
  • Communicating clearly and quickly about any food safety or quality concerns.
  • Helping handle product or environmental testing.
  • Calibrating and maintaining QA equipment.
  • Verifying packaging and label accuracy.
  • Documenting product returns.
  • Supporting our food safety systems (GMPs, HACCP).
  • Reviewing smokehouse logs and records as needed.
  • Stepping in as the regulatory contact if the QA Manager is out.
  • Acting as the back‑up SQF Practitioner and helping maintain our SQF Program.
  • Pitching in wherever needed to support the QA team.
What We're Looking For
  • Great attention to detail—you'll be catching things others might miss.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a food or meat production environment (QA experience preferred).
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self‑starter who can stay on task without a lot of supervision.
  • Organized and dependable.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and basic computer systems (QMS a plus).
Education and Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional training or education beyond high school is a plus.
  • Must have (or be willing to get) HACCP certification.
  • Some knowledge of SQF is helpful.
What the Work Environment Is Like
  • You’ll move between different areas of the plant.
  • Expect to be in both cold and hot environments regularly.
Physical Stuff
  • You’ll need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • You’ll be on your feet most of the day (up to 8 hours).
