Job Description

Job Title: CNC Programmer/Operator

Location: Marshfield, MO

Function: Production/Operations

FLSA Status: Hourly – Non‑exempt

Shift: 1st Shift – Monday through Thursday (4/10), 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with possible overtime on Friday/Saturday.

Sign‑on Bonus: $1,000 total = $500 @ 3 months AND $500 @ 9 months of service.

Job Output: Reporting to the Initial Department Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing the programming, technical support and day‑to‑day guidance to the plant’s CNC machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • As an integrated member of the production team, ensure all work in the area is performed in a safe manner and in support of the Plant and Company safety rules, policies, standards and expectations.
  • Be the owner of creating/developing the programming for the CNC machines.
  • Maintain high attention to detail, accuracy and problem‑solving skills.
  • Oversee the operation of the machine ensuring safe work practices and keeping the CNC work area a safe environment for all; maintain safety equipment and report concerns.
  • Upload all programmed jobs, set up to run the job (both in the CNC program and tooling selection), operate a CNC machine, maintain quality and safety standards, keep production records, label manufactured products for shipment/secondary work, maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpret GD&T.
  • Use calipers and other precision measuring devices.
  • Inspect and validate base raw material meets quality specs to be machined into the purchase order’s finished product.
  • Program the CNC by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; set tool registers, offsets, compensation, conditional switches; calculate requirements; prove part programs.
  • Set‑up the CNC for operations by ensuring tool carriage/head is in home position and reference points are correct; select proper tools; ensure all machine devices are in safe position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first‑run part and sample work pieces; adhere to quality standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, cutting; take measurements; detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; follow quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance; follow manufacturer instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read technical publications; train on site or off‑site as needed.
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for new requests, exploring opportunities to add value, and improving overall process flow or efficiency.
