Location: Defiance

Job Overview

This role involves operating and maintaining the Water Treatment Plant facility in Defiance, Missouri, including wells, pumps, motors, and associated equipment, under the direction of a Project Manager.

Schedule

The shift runs 5:00 pm – 5:00 am on a rotating schedule that includes days and weekends. There is no on‑call rotation, but the employee must respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor plant operations to ensure adherence to all state and federal regulations.
  • Collect and analyze water samples per Standard Methods procedures.
  • Perform minor repair and maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required or per the emergency operations plan.
  • Maintain and keep current state operator’s license.
  • Maintain stock of chemicals used.
  • Execute all work in compliance with established safety standards.
  • Use respirator or PAPR when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Missouri water treatment plant operator’s license preferred.
  • Valid Missouri motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Working knowledge of principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools used in operating and maintaining a water treatment plant.
  • Thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in water treatment work.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Completed background check, pre‑placement physical and drug screen.
