Pyrotechnician - Journeyman

Job Overview

Individual will work as Pyrometer and Instrument Repairer in the Heat treat department. Must have a good working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and PLC experience.

• Continuously monitor, adjust, calibrate, clean, troubleshoot, and repair all temperature and atmosphere instrumentation, controls and processes in the Heat Treat Area to assure safe, accurate, and economic operations.
• Monitor temperature controllers and recorders, infrared gas analyzer controls, and sampling systems.
• Monitor atmosphere, generate dew point and combustibles analyzers.
• Monitor gas burner and electric heating system.
• Aid furnace operators when the furnace shuts off cycle, mechanically fails, or has debris that requires clearance: set back furnace, perform repairs, coordinate with other skilled trades, clear furnace, and return it to operational temperature and cycle.
• Be knowledgeable in motor controls and VFD, cooling water systems.
• Carry out instructions with great attention and follow all safety training and procedures (e.g., LOTO, confined spaces, aerial lift).

• Journeyman card or eight (8) years of documented experience in this trade.
