Forklift Operator, Food Production, Material Handler, Manufacturing Production
Location: North Kansas City
This position also pays an extra $1.50/hr for all hours between 6pm-6am. As a Warehouse Team Member specializing in forklift operation within our food manufacturing company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and safe movement of materials and products within our warehouse and/or manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities- Operate forklift safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, racks, and shelves.
- Transport materials to designated storage areas or production lines as per work orders.
- Conduct pre‑operational checks on the forklift and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Assist with inventory management by recording incoming and outgoing materials and reconciling discrepancies.
- Perform periodic physical counts and report shortages or damages.
- Support warehouse operations by picking, packing, labeling, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Handle materials with care to prevent damage or contamination in a food manufacturing environment.
- Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards and report any issues.
- Work overtime and non‑standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or a similar production environment (preferred).
- Proven forklift operation experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (FSA, USDA) and quality assurance practices (GMPs).
- Knowledge of forklift operation safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Daily exposure to elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness, poor lighting, noise, vibration, weather extremes, chemicals, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, and communicable diseases. The position requires standing, walking, lifting and carrying packages up to 50 lbs, and utilizing fine dexterity while reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis.
