Overview

Boeing is excited to announce the launch of our Assembly Mechanic Apprenticeship program in St. Louis, designed to equip aspiring mechanics with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Program Details

The apprenticeship has four pathways:
Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Composites. The Composites cohort is a 12‑week program. Upon completion, candidates will have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work of a Composites Assembly Mechanic, including interpreting model‑based drawings and blueprints, following work instructions, working with high‑performance materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy resins, honeycomb, and identifying required hand tools, parts, and equipment to achieve defect‑free work and ensure structural integrity and safety.

This involves understanding composite layup techniques, curing processes, and surface finishing, with a focus on quality control and precision.

What is a Technical Apprenticeship?

BTAP is an officially registered apprenticeship recognized by the Department of Labor. It is an earn‑and‑learn program including formal learning, on‑the‑job experience, and mentorship. Graduates receive a nationally recognized credential from the DOL.

What is the Experience?

As an apprentice, you will join a cohort and learn Boeing, aerospace, and core assembly fundamentals. Managers and mentors will support progress through a personal skills roadmap, learning and demonstrating new skills through hands‑on application with project teams. During the apprenticeship you will complete a rigorous and accelerated learning program to develop foundational skills across manufacturing and assembly. Upon program completion, successful candidates have the opportunity to convert to a union‑represented Assembly Mechanic position.

  • Class start dates will vary based on pathway and course schedule
  • Classes may be held on first or second shift, based on demand
  • Shift: 1st shift
Basic Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Understanding of intermediate math
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to work any shift based on the needs of the operation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using basic precision measuring tools
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Total Rewards

Pay: starting at $18.00/hour USD. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Pay range: $18.00/hour USD. Awards and benefits include competitive base pay, variable compensation, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid and unpaid time away, depending on eligibility and location.

Export Control Requirements

This position requires a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62: U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. U.S. based job, U.S. Person required.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.
