Location: California

The Manager, Production is responsible for the overall performance of the fabrication and welding departments by developing and focusing organizational resources to continually add value to internal and external customers. The overall scope of the position is short to medium term planning within a fast‑paced environment.

Production Management Scope (60%)

The Manager drives all operations required for the manufacturing of Fabrication, Weld, SSW, and SSL department product families, including raw material management through finished goods shipment. The Manager ensures daily performance to key performance indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, and cost across all assigned departments and takes timely corrective action when targets are not met. The Manager works in close collaboration with Production Planning and Scheduling to adjust labor and equipment allocation in response to customer demand.

The Manager owns the department’s value‑stream maps and leads continuous improvement initiatives that drive progress in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The Manager develops, analyzes, and presents reports; conducts process audits; leads Kaizen events; and manages staff, including work assignments, training, vacations, overtime, absenteeism, and temporary employment.

Talent Development (20%)

The Manager designs, implements, and continuously refines a comprehensive training and development roadmap for new hires and tenured employees. The roadmap includes safety protocols, standard operating procedures, production process updates, and product changes. The Manager oversees training content, leads performance management, and coaches employees, fostering a culture of learning and empowerment.

Leadership Responsibilities (20%)

The Manager advances skill building within the department, promotes cross‑training, and documents critical operational knowledge to reduce dependency on individual expertise. The Manager investigates incidents related to safety, attendance, and process deviations, administers progressive discipline when appropriate, and ensures compliance with company policy.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5‑10 years in a lean manufacturing environment
  • 5 years leading high‑performing teams
  • 2 years executing a lean vision and journey
  • 2 years with ERP/MRP systems, SAP (a plus)
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and maximizing manufacturing and distribution
  • Strong accountability, dependability, and commitment to results
  • Data‑driven analysis and sound business judgment
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and logic application
  • Team building, consensus building, and positive relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP or similar MRP software, and OEE software
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge: elimination of waste, continuous improvement, S5, Kaizen, JIT, Kanban, leveled production
  • Mathematics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Employees are required to sit, talk, and hear frequently; may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs. The work environment is a professional office setting with standard office equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.

Work Status & Location

Full‑time, exempt. The position is located in Riverside, CA. Relocation is not available. Travel up to 10% domestic.

Rewards

Annual base salary $91,200–$118,500. Quarterly bonuses or commission may be earned.
