The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of all equipment associated with the production of dry ice from CO₂. The role includes production, regulatory compliance, inventory, and shipping. The operator must troubleshoot and maintain dry ice equipment as needed and may assist Maintenance Technicians with more technical procedures. Continuous plant operation requires 12‑hour shift work and call‑in readiness.
Responsibilities- Safely and efficiently operate the dry ice plant
- Operate dry ice pelletizer, forklifts, pallet jacks, and sanitation equipment and chemicals
- Maintain cleanliness of the dry ice building and equipment indoors and outdoors
- Perform and document maintenance and repairs of equipment
- Prepare shipping and other required documents
- Operate computers for production and administrative tasks
- Follow plant procedures for start‑up and shutdown
- Maintain accurate and timely logs
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance
- Maintain a team environment and champion POET in the community
- Advance food safety and quality standards of POET’s products and processes
- Adapt to 12‑hour shift work and meet call‑in requirements
- Self‑starter who works safely and productively without close supervision
- Experience in a production environment preferred
- Light to medium maintenance experience preferred
- Knowledge of computers, MS Office, and ability to learn production software systems
- Strong mathematical, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
- High level of personal integrity

- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, self‑contained breathing system, hazardous material suit, hearing protection, harness
- Work at extreme heights (approximately 150ft), in confined spaces, and in temperatures ranging from –20 to +100°F, both indoors and outdoors
- Use hand tools, skid loader, scoop shovels, pipe wrenches, impact wrench, air hose, shuttle wagon, payloader, and Track mobile for extended periods
- Perform lifting and carrying tasks up to 95lbs with or without assistance, and other manual handling duties
- Operate machinery and equipment in various work positions, including awkward postures and overhead work
- Maintain a drug screen during the pre‑screen process and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment
