Production Manager
Location: Moscow Mills
Scope
Skilled knowledge of product lines. Expected to perform all tasks independently and provide training and support to peers within the Packing Department. Acts as a key member for inventory and implements the direction and goals of the Shift Supervisor to maintain yield, efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Emphasize policy, procedures, and culture consistent with the Shift Supervisor’s direction.
- Control and improve production yield and efficiency of the facility against standards.
- Promote safety, quality, cleanliness, and food safety; ensure adherence to SOPs.
- Encourage employee ownership, understanding of product and process, and overall team building.
- Take independent action and complete daily paperwork; provide corrective action recommendations to the Production Manager regarding safety, quality, cleanliness, yield, and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
- Enforce company rules fairly and consistently.
- Report broken or inoperable equipment and unsafe conditions to the Shift Supervisor and take immediate corrective action when warranted.
- Initiate the start of production lines on time and effect changeovers promptly.
- Schedule labor (full‑time and agency) and coordinate with the temporary labor provider to fill daily shortages.
- Report time‑and‑attendance infractions to the Shift Supervisor.
- Maintain strong interdepartmental communication to facilitate shared goals.
- Recommend changes to written production standards/specifications to reflect actual processes.
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures, and be responsible for food safety and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Verify adherence to production specifications, formulas, efficiency metrics (cases per hour; cases per lb), and compliance with process documents.
- Ensure employees work in specified areas and meet labor specification guidelines; monitor breaks and lunches to remain timely and compliant.
- Develop subordinates’ ability to understand, manage, and affect the department positively; ensure training in OSHA, Food Defense, GMPs, HAACP, CCP procedures, quality, cleanliness, and communicable disease policy.
- Skilled knowledge of product lines; able to perform all tasks without guidance.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
