Contractual starting hourly wage is $22.50 per hour. After 6 months of employment you will receive $0.50 per hour increase. After a full year your wage will be increased to the current contractual rate. Shift differential: $0.20 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shift schedules.
Summary DescriptionReporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for providing the customer with the highest quality product in an efficient and cost‑effective manner. The Machine Operator monitors and operates machinery on the production lines to comply with established standard operating practices for each customer.
Essential Job Functions- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
- Adhere to food quality and food safety standards provided by corporate, customer, or governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
- Read, understand, and adhere to a production manufacturing schedule; communicate issues or deviations with the appropriate parties.
- Maintain production flow on machinery by monitoring upstream and downstream issues, supplying raw materials, and performing minor servicing as needed.
- Follow all Quality Assurance and Production line standard operating procedures.
- Perform equipment changeovers; read imperial and metric measurements.
- Record all necessary information for production and quality records; keep accurate downtime reports and documentation.
- Perform equipment and general sanitation in your work area or as assigned by leadership.
- Work closely with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies, and reduce waste.
- Understand visual and auditory cues to identify production or machine related issues.
- Perform minor machine maintenance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by leadership, including cross‑training, general and plant sanitation, inventory management, training, etc.
- Experience in a high‑speed beverage production environment; beverage production experience preferred.
- Understanding of production machinery and forklifts; awareness of technical issues.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Basic mathematical abilities.
- Skill in interpreting gauges, thermometers, and weight measurements.
- Formal training in WHMIS, HACCP, hygiene, etc. preferred.
- Forklift certification may be required.
- Problem‑solving: troubleshoot machinery and production issues efficiently; collaborate to resolve complex issues.
- Teamwork: collaborate with coworkers to achieve production targets and support team members.
- Documentation: accurately record production data; complete required paperwork or electronic documentation; maintain organized records.
- Safety awareness: knowledge of safety protocols, hazard identification, and adherence to safety regulations; complete required monthly training.
- Communication: effective verbal and written communication with team members and supervisors; report issues accurately; collaborate to ensure smooth workflow.
- High School Certification or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Work schedule:
weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight, and holidays may be required; overtime scheduled as needed. - Environment: fast‑paced production plant with moving parts; noise requires hearing protection; temperatures can be hot or cold.
- 0% travel anticipated.
- Stand: frequently required; stand for long periods.
- Lifting: frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; minimum weight 15 lbs.
- Carry, lift, push/pull: frequent.
- Walking, driving (forklift), climbing (stairs/ladders) or balancing: frequent.
- Visual/Sensory: attention to detail required.
- Coordination and dexterity: excellent hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Mental stress: significant pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy, or similar demands.
