The Refining/Casting Supervisor oversees the safe and efficient processing of molten lead. Key duties include managing shift operations, ensuring the staff works safely, adhering to strict environmental controls, and directing plant personnel.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling of the refining and casting departments.
- Direct supervision of hourly employees (casting and refining).
- Training and scheduling of casting and refining employees.
- Communicate with Production, Transportation, Maintenance, QA/lab, and other departments to ensure continual process.
- Follow all Health and Safety procedures/practices as they apply to the area of work and the facility.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow ALL established standard operating procedures.
- Ensure safe operation of the refining and casting departments in meeting established operating goals and quality standards.
- Report any change in the operation of the casting/refining equipment.
- Follow procedures to operate all refining and casting equipment and make necessary specification adjustments per instructions.
- Participate in training and development programs.
- Perform whatever other responsibilities and duties that are assigned by management.
- Responsible for ensuring that adequate refining and casting levels are maintained.
- Production background, preferably in a process environment.
- Ability to supervise and motivate hourly employees.
- Ability to organize and plan workflow.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to perform calculations using a calculator.
- Ability to organize and perform refining and casting process.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Computer skills.
- Certification in the use of the following mobile equipment (training will be provided if necessary):
- Forklift
- Crane/Hoist
- Loader
- Excavator
- Bobcat (Skid Loader)
This position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, and movement throughout production and operational areas. Perform occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally required. The role requires visual acuity, hearing, and situational awareness sufficient to safely monitor operations, identify hazards, and respond to changing plant conditions. Employees must be capable of wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a full-face respirator, for extended periods as required by operational and safety requirements.
ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a lead recycling and manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to lead-containing dust, fumes, airborne particulates, elevated noise levels, and extreme temperatures, including heat and humidity associated with smelting and production operations. The role requires regular presence throughout the manufacturing facility, resulting in routine exposure to industrial equipment, moving machinery, and production processes.
Noise levels are frequently high, and the consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection and a full-face respirator in designated areas, is mandatory.
