Role Description This is a full-time, on-site CNC Lathe Operators/Programmers role based in Chesterfield, MI. The individual in this position will set up, operate, and program CNC lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily responsibilities include selecting tooling, adjusting machine settings, loading materials, and monitoring production runs to ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
The role involves performing routine inspections, documenting results, and coordinating with engineering and production teams to resolve machining issues and optimize processes. The CNC Lathe Operator/Programmer will also perform basic machine maintenance, follow safety and quality procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
Qualifications
- Strong Machine Operation and Machinery skills, including experience setting up and running CNC lathes in a production environment.
- Proficiency in Machining and Milling processes, with the ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
- Experience with Quality Control practices, including the use of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and documentation of inspection results.
- Familiarity with CNC programming (e.g., G-code) and ability to adjust programs and offsets to maintain tight tolerances.
- Solid understanding of shop math, tolerances, and material properties relevant to precision manufacturing.
- Ability to follow safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized work area, and handle materials and equipment safely.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other operators.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment; vocational training or technical certification in machining or related field is preferred.
