Position Title: CNC Machinist – Setup/Operator
Department: Machine Shop
Location: Fenton, MO
Reports To: Production Supervisor – Machine Shop
Classification: Hourly – Non‑Exempt
Schedule: Weekend shift:
Fri
- Sun, 5am - 5pm and/or 2nd shift:
Mon
- Thurs, 3:15pm - 1:15am
Set‑Up/Operator position responsible for machining of components using a variety of CNC lathes and mills while following the documented procedures, including safety procedures. Will be responsible for the quality of parts produced. Assists in the instruction of setup, operators, and operator trainees. Diagnose, troubleshoot and make adjustments. May be assigned to remove and/or replace worn or defective parts. Must have the fundamental tools to safely and effectively perform the job.
PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection are required at all times.
Job Duties
- Must be able to set up, operate and adjust a variety of machines
- Requires the use of precision measuring devices
- Must be able to work from drawings with minimum instruction and supervision
- Understanding of G and M Codes
- Required to set and sharpen tools
- Troubleshoot machines, set speeds, and feeds for proper materials and do minor repairs as needed
- Responsible for the quality of parts produced
- Minimum 2-3 years CNC experience
- Strong math skills and ability to read blueprints, work instructions, SOP's, and other technical information in English.
- Must be able to monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to be sure the machine is working properly and use proper precision measuring devices.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Must be self‑directed and take initiative to learn new skills relating to the maintenance of the machine.
- Possess a hands‑on style with strong mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with HAAS, Okuma, and/or MAZAK CNC machine centers
- Experience with CNC lathes
- Must be able to lift 35lbs. on a regular basis.
