- Maintains a safety-first approach and follows all required PPE, machine safety, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.
- Uses Mastercam to create, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs for tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and production components.
- Designs, develops, machines, modifies, and repairs fixtures, jigs, work holding, tooling, and other manufacturing aids.
- Sets up and operates CNC mills, lathes, 3-axis and 5-axis machines, as well as applicable manual toolroom equipment.
- Determines appropriate machining methods, tooling, work holding, speeds, feeds, cutting parameters, and sequence of operations.
- Performs machine prove-outs and trial runs to verify programs, setups, fixture functionality, and dimensional accuracy.
- Troubleshoots machining, programming, tooling, fixture, and work holding issues and makes necessary adjustments.
- Works closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Programming to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve machining processes.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce setup and cycle time, improve tooling and fixture design, and increase manufacturing efficiency.
- Uses precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, height gauges, dial indicators, and other inspection tools to verify conformance to specifications.
- Produces precision components and tooling while maintaining required tolerances, quality standards, and documentation.
- Adheres to AS9100, ISO 9000, internal Quality Management System requirements, and established manufacturing procedures.
- May provide technical guidance or training to other machinists regarding setups, tooling, fixtures, programming, and machining methods.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and FOD-free work area and actively participates in 5S efforts.
- Follows all Company policies and performs other duties as assigned.
- Previous toolroom machining experience required.
- Experience programming CNC equipment using Mastercam required.
- Experience designing and manufacturing machining fixtures, work holding, jigs, and tooling required.
- Strong CNC machining, setup, programming, and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience operating manual machining equipment.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, tooling selection, and work holding methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and CAD models.
- Experience with precision measurement equipment and tight-tolerance machining.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently take a tooling or fixture requirement from concept through programming, machining, prove-out, and implementation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating across departments.
- Aerospace, defense, or other precision manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles preferred.
- Eligible to work in the United States at an ITAR facility without company sponsorship.
$32+ depending on experience
