* Job Summary:

** The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating powered industrial equipment (sit-down/stand-up forklifts, loaders) to move heavy, bulky materials, while also setting up and operating machinery (saws, routers, grinders, drills) to process metal or lumber to specifications. This role includes loading/unloading trucks, managing inventory via scans, and ensuring a safe, clean work environment.
** Core Responsibilities**
* ** Forklift Operation:
** Operate heavy-duty forklifts (18,000lb+ capacity frequently required in steel) to move structural steel, scrap metal, or timber. Load and unload flatbed trailers and containers.
* ** Machine Operation:
** Set up, adjust, and operate metal roll former machinery, custom trim machines to cut and shape materials to specifications.
* ** Material Handling:
** Transport raw materials to workstations and transfer finished products to staging areas.
* ** Safety & Compliance:
** Adhere to strict OSHA regulations and company safety procedures, including wearing PPE (safety boots, safety gloves)
* ** Maintenance & Quality Control:
** Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and machines. Inspect finished parts/lumber for accuracy using tape measures or calipers.
* ** Documentation:
** Maintain inventory records, cut sheets, daily activity logs, and any required production documentation.## Qualifications
** Requirements and Qualifications**
* ** Certification:
** Forklift Operator Certification will be issued on-site.

* Experience:

** 1-2 years of experience operating heavy, high-capacity forklifts in a manufacturing or lumber environment preferred.
* ** Physical Strength:
** Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing 50-100 lbs.

Skills:

** Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers); previous experience a plus.
* ** Stamina:
** Ability to stand for long periods and work in extreme temperatures.
