The Packaging Line Technician sets up, operates, monitors, and adjusts equipment to package product and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, safety rules and good manufacturing processes GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices). The Packaging Line Technician reports to the department Supervisor and partners with cross-functional teams to ensure we package quality vitamins.

Key Responsibilities Sets up and operates automatic and semi-automatic filling and labeling equipment.

Determines which slat is appropriate for the production run, uses hand tools to manually adjust controls and assemble equipment.

Supplies bulk to packaging lines; keeps packaging lines supplied with components and removes finish product from packaging lines.

Maintains routine logs and records of cleaning and production activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with procedures.

Performs in-process quality checks, pulls in-process and retains samples as needed, inspects tablets, capsules and bottles for defects as they are being packaged, and pulls defective ones as necessary without slowing down line or disrupting production. Notifies Line Lead or Supervisor of problems that disrupts production as soon as possible.

Assembles and reviews product batch records for cGMP compliance in order to facilitate timely approval of finished product for commercial distribution. Maintains routine logs and records of cleaning and production activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with procedures.

Performs all duties in compliance with cGMP’s, SOP’s and safety procedures.

Continually monitors equipment and product moving through line to ensure quality, packs product in boxes, uses tape machines to seal boxes; and loads packed products onto pallets ensuring production and safety goals are met.

Uses computer programming unit to adjust controls and machine operation.

Plays a major role in continuous process improvement of the packaging line.

Trains and cross-trains other operators in all functions of production line.

Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion, using rags, broom and dustpan as appropriate.

Disassembles and sanitizes equipment at closeout of products; washes parts and machinery with water and cleansing/sanitizing agents; dries as necessary.

Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience Required No prior experience Required+ 1 year related experience PreferredA strong mechanical aptitude and comfortable working to resolve mechanical issues and can perform root cause analysis with training when things go wrong.

Knowledge and comfort operating a variety of manufacturing packaging equipment in a fast-paced- production line where team efficiency is rewarded.

Proficient English ability to read and write effectively and communicate with staff, read and understand standard operating procedures, manufacturing instructions and complete required production and cleaning logs.

Working with and understanding data, which tracks line efficiency and down time. With a quality mindset is attentive to detail and maintains accurate logs and records of production activities, ensuring, compliance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.

Responsible for quality of own work while adhering to required GMP requirements.

Understands that efficiency is important and strives to continually improve changeover time which contributes to team efficiency.
