The Martin Marietta internship program is designed to provide students with meaningful, hands-on experience in the aggregates mining industry. The internship program offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world production environment while developing technical, operational, and leadership skills.
Reporting to a Plant Manager, a Production Intern would work alongside experienced professionals to gain exposure to plant operations, equipment, safety practices, and production processes. Many of Martin Marietta's leaders began their careers as interns, making this program an excellent pathway to future career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Follow and promote Martin Marietta's safety, environmental, and ethical standards in all work activities.
- Support daily plant operations while learning the complete aggregates production process.
- Operate and assist in maintaining plant equipment, including crushers, screens, conveyors, and heavy off-road equipment under the supervision of experienced personnel.
- Assist with drilling and blasting activities, including learning drill pattern layouts and blast preparation.
- Participate in operational and continuous improvement projects that enhance plant efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality control, and leadership teams to support production goals.
- Develop an understanding of leadership principles and best practices demonstrated by successful Martin Marietta managers.
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, Values, policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.
Throughout the internship, you will develop knowledge and experience in:
- Aggregate mining and production operations
- Equipment, operation and maintenance
- Plant safety and environmental compliance

- Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
- Continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mining engineering, construction management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work safely in an outdoor industrial environment around heavy equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn technical processes and adapt to a fast-paced production environment.
