What you will be doing:

  • With direct supervision, develop and manage the execution of annual brand plans or complete specified responsibilities directed by supervisor to ensure sales and profit expectations meet the stated goals.

Example: the incumbent will work independently to complete the annual business plan based on a situation assessment including an analysis of competitive brands, products and companies; consumer consumption trends including Nielsen/Technomic/ Circana / Other data; sales by retail outlet and channel, etc. From this information the incumbent will independently write a 1 year business plan including a complete P&L, clearly stated brand objectives and the related tactics and will present these to his/her direct supervisor for revisions and approval.

Elements of this plan could include advertising and promotion plans, creative recommendations for all elements including the pre-testing methodology prior to production. The incumbent will work directly with the category sales team to outline trade spending rates including direction on pricing (promoted and non-promoted) and other merchandising expectations (feature and display, TPRs, etc.) Incumbent will provide all financial information to his/her direct supervisor and/or place it in the approved shared location.

The incumbent will review financial results to plan each period and provide recommendations to his/her direct supervisor of actions needed to meet the expected plan. This might include adjustments to selling price, reductions in marketing expenses, etc. This position may also have responsibilities within other areas of MMX (i.e. Food service, International, etc), and the same aforementioned duties apply but with their own specific nuances.

For example, the incumbent will execute a search of competitive information, review competitive annual reports, conduct Circana/Technomic/Other reviews of the competitor’s brands and related categories, conduct store audits of the competitor’s products and provide a written situation assessment of the competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and expected next moves in the market place.

  • With direct supervision, develop a 3 year business plan for responsible brand outlining sales, profit, investment and innovation plans.

Example: The incumbent will follow the same situation assessment process described above and will include 2 additional years onto the time horizon. This will also include a 3 year list of expected new product introductions during this period and the timing of events to complete these projects. This will include meeting directly with R&D and consumer insights to outline the research needs for the project, determine the budgets and outline the team of people needed to complete the task.

For example, the incumbent may be directed to review historical cost of goods for a specific brand or list of products, understand the critical inputs affecting the cost, compare historical values of these inputs to forecasted markets and provide insight into the expected future cost of the products and brands over the next 3 years.
