What You’ll Lead

Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company is hiring an Event Coordinator/Public Relations to plan and deliver horticulture-focused events and promotional outreach that strengthen our connection with gardeners and the public. This role exists to ensure each event runs smoothly, reflects our standards, and earns positive attention through consistent media relationships.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Plan and execute multiple on-property events each year and off-site promotional activities
  • Recruit, cold call, schedule, and coordinate vendors, speakers, and exhibitors
  • Organize logistics such as services, signage, permits/compliance, and budgets
  • Support event marketing and PR by coordinating press outreach and promotional releases
  • Gather feedback/data to improve future events and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Required Qualifications /skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • 1+ year event planning experience (garden/horticulture events preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of heirloom seed varieties and gardening
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, or Horticulture preferred

Apply to help create memorable event experiences that represent Baker Creek well.

Your Benefits

We offer a practical benefits package that supports your health, time off, and long-term planning:
Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Health Savings Account (HSA), Paid Time Off, and Employee Discounts.

A Typical Day

You’ll start by checking timelines and confirmations‑who’s locked in, what's pending, and what needs a follow-up call. Midday often includes vendor or speaker conversations, quick edits to a press note, and coordinating details like signage placement or service schedules. Some afternoons are spent aligning with internal teams, tracking expenses, and updating run‑of‑show documents so nothing is left to chance. As event dates approach, your focus shifts to final confirmations and contingency planning.

The schedule is primarily Monday‑Friday, 8am‑4pm, with occasional evenings and full coverage for events that land on Sunday‑Monday.
