Position Overview

The Operations Manager supports the implementation and oversight of the organization’s day-to-day operational functions. This role ensures that internal systems, workflows, administrative processes, and operational procedures function efficiently and consistently in alignment with organizational policies and strategic priorities.

The Operations Manager works closely with the Vice President of Operations and executive leadership to translate strategic goals into operational execution, support staff coordination, and drive process improvement initiatives. This is a non-paid, volunteer position.

Key Responsibilities Operational Implementation & Coordination
  • Support implementation of operational strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee daily administrative operations, workflows, and internal processes.
  • Monitor systems to ensure efficiency and adherence to standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining operational policies and procedures.
Process Improvement & Performance Monitoring
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Track operational performance metrics and prepare reports.
  • Support cross‑departmental collaboration to enhance service delivery.
  • Assist in managing operational projects and timelines.
Staff Support & Supervision
  • Provide supervision and guidance to assigned administrative staff and volunteers.
  • Support onboarding and training related to operational processes.
  • Promote accountability and adherence to organizational standards.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and nonprofit regulations.
  • Identify operational risks and elevate concerns as appropriate.
  • Support preparation for audits, reviews, or internal assessments.

Additional duties may be assigned as organizational needs evolve.

Volunteer Role Notice

This is a non‑paid, volunteer role. Individuals serving in this capacity are not employees of the organization and do not receive financial compensation or employment benefits. Time commitment expectations and responsibilities will be mutually agreed upon in writing.

Qualifications Education & Credentials Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, or related field.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, or similar operational certification.
Experience & Expertise
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in operations, administration, or organizational management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting operational systems and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working in nonprofit or mission‑driven environments preferred.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, accountability, and mission‑driven service.
