Ameri Corps Healthy Lifestyles Coach -(May 2026 - July 2026)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana is looking for service-minded people to join forces and make an impact through Ameri Corps! If you’re looking for a structured opportunity to serve, grow personally, and make a difference in your local community, this for you!
What You’ll DoAmeri Corps is an intensive rewarding service program where you’ll dedicate mid-May 2026 through July 2026 to addressing the nation’s most pressing challenges – right in your local community. As an Ameri Corps member, you will:
- SERVE a regular weekly schedule (35-40 hours/week) throughout the summer program.
- Help youth develop healthy habits and increase their health knowledge
- Lead Triple Play/Healthy Habits activities, and More!
- Participate in Team trainings, meetings, and 1 service project
Once you join Ameri Corps, you’ll join your local Boys & Girls Club (BGC) to support youth and team up with other Ameri Corps members for regional and national service projects. Whether you're building skills for your future or just looking to make a real impact — this is your chance to serve with purpose.
Who Can ApplyOur national service members range from age 18 to 50+—there’s no maximum age limit!

- Dates are subject to change.
- Must serve a regular weekly schedule through the summer. (approximately 35–40 hours/week and at least 300 hours for the term). Week off June 29-July 3 when Clubs are closed.
- Availability: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday–Friday) Some weekends required for off-site service projects & team activities
- Must attend all mandatory meetings, training, and service project
- Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or national of the United States
- Be at least 18 years or older
- Pass a National Service Background Check, including criminal background, sex offender and FBI check
- Drug screen
All amounts subject to change & dependent upon service contract.
- Living Allowance (pre-tax):
Up to $2,700 total (divided into equal pay periods, bi-weekly) - Segal Education Award (Post-Service, pre-tax): $1,565.08 (Use toward school or student loans upon successful completion)*

- Primary Responsibilities of Ameri Corps
- Plan & facilitate Triple Play & Healthy Habits programming in areas of Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership, Fitness & Recreation, Arts, Education, & Career Development.
- Collaborate with BGCA staff to facilitate daily activities for small groups (5-10 kids), regular groups (20-30 kids), and large groups (40+ kids)
- Facilitate coaching sessions for members
- Engage youth as leaders to help plan and/or lead event elements
- Utilize 5 elements of positive youth development to establish a positive learning environment
- Assist with documenting and reporting disciplinary actions/incidents in the program
- Collect & submit program intervention data for grant reporting purposes when necessary.
- Participate in and/or lead Ameri Corps meetings & service project(s) with local corps members
- Attend mandatory Club-staff meetings/trainings and Ameri Corps activities (service projects, monthly meetings, trainings, and team development activities)
- Supporting, creating and/or co-leading events or programs that recognize and appreciate significant growth and achievement in Club members
- Attending Club outreach events at schools, fairs, etc.
