Purpose of the Position

Crocker Christian Church is looking for a full time Youth Minister. The right person will work in conjunction with our Children’s Coordinator, Nursery Coordinator, Preaching Minister, and Elders to build upon the work that is already in place. Our goal is to develop a ministry that not only reaches young people, but their families as well. This will involve but is not limited to recruiting and training the needed staff in order for this ministry to grow.

The ability to lead worship on Sunday mornings is a plus.

This person must be willing to be involved in the community and school activities. We would like someone that can come in and work with our Worship Team to help enhance our worship time. This person will work with the worship team and Preaching Minister in planning weekly worship, special services, recruiting and training new team members, training sound techs and other areas of need within the worship ministry.

Qualifications
  • Have a consistent and fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ. The youth minister should display the character qualities found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus
    1. They should also display the fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23.
  • A track record of serving in ministry, loyalty to church leadership, evidence of leadership and a calling to youth ministry.
  • A heart and passion for young people of all ages.
  • Free from addictions and life-dominating sins.
  • Demonstrated competence in doing the work of ministry.
  • Have a teachable spirit.
  • Specific Qualification
  • The time and energy to work 40 – 50 hours a week, depending on scheduled activities.
  • Desire to spend time in God’s Word and prayer.
  • Desire to see young people and their families come to and grow in Christ.
  • Responsibilities and Duties
  • Spend regular time in personal Bible study and prayer to maintain your own spiritual health outside of the ministry.
  • Create and communicate a Philosophy of youth ministry for the youth program.
  • Create and communicate goals for the youth program.
  • Administration of general youth ministry needs, including facilitating communications with staff, parents, sponsors, and students connected to the youth ministry.
    • For example:
      • Doing calendars,
      • Flyers,
      • Mailings,
      • Telephone calls, and
      • Newcomer follow-up.
  • Attend youth events/activities in the community.
  • Recruit and train volunteer support for the youth ministry.
  • Participate in youth ministry activities, service projects, and events.
  • Plan youth ministry events, service projects and activities for youth of all ages.
  • Be available to counsel young people.
  • Be willing to teach in any area of youth ministry.
  • Observe and report on classes during the worship service.
  • Aide in the planning and implementation of VBS.
  • Keep attendance records.
  • Encourage young people to consider specialized Christian Service.
  • Promote youth attendance at Gasconade Christian Service Camp.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Senior Minister.
  • Work with the Senior Minister in the development and implementation of a program to minister to and with parents of young people.
  • Be available to fill the pulpit in the absence of the Senior Minister.
  • There may be other responsibilities added after agreed upon by the Senior Minister and youth minister.
  • Accountability
  • The youth minister is ultimately accountable to the Lord.
  • Secondarily, the youth minister shall be accountable to the Senior Minister.
  • Thirdly, the youth minister shall be accountable to the Eldership.
