The CHLI Ameri Corps VISTA Hub is recruiting two, full-year Ameri Corps VISTA Volunteer to serve with the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse in Alameda County, California. The National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse (NCAPDA) works to prevent prescription drug-related substance use disorder (SUD) and overdose deaths through community education and policy change at the local, state, and national levels.
NCAPDA networks with similar organizations and like-minded agencies throughout the country to share best practices, develop and share useful material resources, and establish and implement a cohesive, nationwide education campaign around medication safety.
The selected candidate will be a part a statewide learning community through PHI Center for Health Leadership and Impact. This community includes support from VISTA Leads and professional development opportunities including workshops, networking events, conferences and other trainings. Duties
All VISTA Volunteers serve full-time, 40 hours per week for a full 12-month term. This is an in-person position and the selected candidates must live within commuting distance of San Ramon, California. Ameri Corps VISTA Volunteers serve as a key support to coalition leadership and help build local capacity to turn the tide on the overdose epidemic. VISTA volunteers improve operational capacity and build a coordinated response to the overdose epidemic.
At NCAPDA, VISTA Volunteers will: develop community resource guides; expand the Alameda County Overdose Prevention Collaborative (ACOPC); establish a volunteer database; conduct a structured website improvement project; develop a Post Overdose Survival Toolkit; and create a social media communications plan.
