Overview

The Sustainable California Libraries project, a partnership between the Pacific Library Partnership (PLP) and the California State Library, strengthens resource‑sharing and access to information, services, and opportunity with an emphasis on local community strengths and challenges throughout the California library community. This project builds on the prior work of the Sustainable California Libraries LSTA funded project, as well as participation with the national Sustainable Libraries Initiative.

Key deliverables of this project include creating and training a cohort of thirty library staff from fifteen library jurisdictions. Activities include recruitment and development of the cohort, an orientation at CLA pre‑conference, regularly scheduled cohort meetings, and a summit. Through this, the project will train staff to develop and implement local programs and services that promote resiliency and sustainability. State and local community partnerships will help communities and library staff learn and adopt sustainable practices.
