Kelly Services is partnering with a respected nonprofit organization in St. Louis to hire an experienced Individual Major Gifts Officer
. This direct-hire position will lead the organization’s individual giving and donor stewardship efforts, with a focus on retaining, re-engaging, and growing relationships with mid-level and major donors.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, accomplished fundraiser, and skilled relationship manager who is comfortable making the ask, closing gifts, and creating meaningful donor experiences. This individual will manage a portfolio of approximately 100–150 donors and prospects while developing and executing an annual fundraising and stewardship strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising and donor stewardship plan focused on retention, re-engagement, and growth.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 100–150 current, prospective, and lapsed donors who contribute or have the potential to contribute $1,000 or more annually.
- Cultivate strong donor relationships through personalized communication, appreciation, engagement, and meaningful involvement in the organization’s mission.
- Identify opportunities to increase annual giving and expand the organization’s network of individual donors.
- Confidently solicit and close individual gifts ranging from approximately $500 to $24,999.
- Plan and lead major-donor fundraising events, seasonal campaigns, and donor engagement activities.
- Manage event budgets and ensure fundraising events meet or exceed established donor participation and net-revenue goals.
- Create mission-focused experiences that help donors understand the impact of their support and feel genuinely valued.
- Track donor activity, communication, and stewardship efforts accurately within the organization’s donor database.
- Monitor progress toward annual fundraising goals and provide regular reports to organizational leadership.
- Collaborate with the philanthropy and development leadership team on stewardship strategies for individual and private family foundation donors.
- Coordinate and support fundraising-related volunteers as needed.
- Stay current on nonprofit fundraising best practices and apply creative approaches to donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience, including experience at the director or comparable leadership level.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing annual fundraising plans and meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Proven ability to cultivate donor relationships, solicit contributions, and close individual gifts.
- Experience managing a portfolio of mid-level or major donors.
- Successful experience planning and executing fundraising events while meeting revenue and budget expectations.
- Strong donor stewardship, retention, re-engagement, and relationship-development skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present effectively in one‑on‑one and group settings.
- Proficiency with donor‑management or CRM systems, Microsoft Office, social media, and web‑based communication platforms.
- Strong project‑management, organizational, and analytical skills.
