Job Description And DutiesThe California Conservation Corps Watershed Stewards Program in partnership with Ameri Corps (WSP) is dedicated to improving watershed health by actively engaging in restoration science, civic service, and community education while empowering the next generation of environmental stewards. If you are interested in supporting watershed restoration and resiliency within local communities throughout California and being part of something greater than yourself, you may be ready to join the staff of the Watershed Stewards Program in San Luis Obispo.
WSP is a dynamic program committed to developing early natural resource professionals (18-32) by engaging them in a 1,700-hour, 10.5-month term of public service and watershed and salmonid restoration duties. The WSP Program Analyst (PA) will work under the supervision of the WSP Program Manager (located at the Eureka office) with direct guidance from the two WSP Program Coordinators. The PA is part of a small team dedicated to inspiring, educating, and challenging young adults to further their educational and professional goals through their service experience.
The PA is a new key position brought on to focus on short- and long-term recruitment, public engagement, and outreach goals. The PA will assist with data collection, analysis, and grant compliance activities, required to recruit and support our 44 Corps members (CMs) in high-need watersheds and Placement Site communities throughout California each year.
We are looking for a motivated and energized candidate who can handle the pressure of the dynamic work environment of WSP.
The Position Carries Out The Following Duties:Program Recruitment
- Manage and write email correspondence with applicants, stakeholders, Corps members, and Placement Site staff
- Conduct, analyze, score, and track interviews of Corps member applicants to assess eligibility and make recommendations
- Track Placement Site applications and support recruitment
- Provide feedback and edits on Corps members’ professional writing and outreach materials
- Support program social media, update and maintain media outreach and photo archive
- Assist with development and updating of program media and track outreach efficacy
- Support program activities and community engagement at in-person outreach events
- Support alumni engagement
- Conduct program data analyses, surveys, and assist with reporting
- Monitor Corps member timesheet and datasheet
- Assist Program Coordinators with select Placement Site visits
- Review Program written materials, edit, and provide feedback
- Attend Weekly Staff Meetings
- Contribute to monthly communications
- Support training development and facilitation
- Assist with office organization and care of materials, vehicles, and equipment
This position is classified as "In Office" and is not eligible for telework.
The position is office-based with a focus on computing and organization. There are weekly staff meetings, and all staff travel to participate in program events such as our statewide graduation, site visits, and trainings. The office is located six miles outside the city of San Luis Obispo at the CCC Los Padres Center.
The Program Analyst is required to work extensively on computers as necessary for drafting documents, conducting research, drafting email communication, and other purposes. The position requires the ability to sit or stand at a desk and to work at a computer for extended periods of time as well as the ability to move and transport office items, transport tools used for restoration, and uniforms and safety gear up to 35 lbs.
