Education and Experience
- Associate's degree equivalent to four (4) years of experience
- Bachelor's degree equivalent to eight (8) years of experience
Under the general supervision of the Workforce Development Specialist, the Ameri Corps Seniors Program Supervisor will participate in and supervise up to 10 Ameri Corps Senior Elder Volunteers involved in the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation’s (Nation) workforce development program. This program will meet regularly throughout the calendar year to plan and develop resources for the tribe’s Workforce Resource Center, focusing on wellness, culture and vocational activities and training for tribal youth ages 16-24.
All Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation employees must submit to a background check and abide by all Tribal, federal, and state laws. All employees must comply with Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation drug free workplace policy and will be subject to pre-employment, random, for-cause, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Qualified American Indian Preference applies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be alert to elder needs and be aware of appropriate resources if a health or personal issue arises that may need appropriate support.
- Exercise prudent judgement in adhering to “best practices” for working with elders in all situations and environments.
- Work internally, as well as with partnering agencies and other Tribal departments to oversee Ameri Corps Senior Volunteers and facilitate their creation of a schedule and list of any and all applicable workforce, educational, wellness and culture resources that Tribal Citizens and Tribal youth can take advantage of.
- Facilitate a monthly workforce topic related workshop created by Ameri Corps Seniors Volunteer team at the Workforce Resource Center.
- Work closely with the Workforce Development Specialist to turn scheduled list of activities and begin developing categorizations for trades, goals, cultural activities, wellness activities and training opportunities.
- Facilitate regularly scheduled meetings with the Ameri Corps Seniors Program Volunteers to create unique resources based on assessed workforce gaps in resources, as well as any unforeseen needs determined through TERO and the Workforce Development Specialist.
- Plan and execute an annual recognition ceremony for all of the Ameri Corps Seniors volunteers in honor to celebrate the successes and program goals met each program year.
- Maintain a professional, positive attitude and conduct throughout all assignments while representing the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with Indigenous people in culturally diverse environments and with culturally driven methods, techniques, and ecological knowledge.
- Recruit, train and supervise subordinate Ameri Corps Elder Volunteers.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn, share, practice, and impart traditional and contemporary Tolowa Dee-ni' knowledge, culture and language as related to cultural and natural resources.
- Prepare written and oral reports and presentations.
- Deploy, maintain, and download data from project areas and subjected or identified resources.
- Enter data into prepared spreadsheets and maintain collected information for future use.
