About The Position
The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Emergency Room Department is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse I/II to join our team in Moreno Valley.
Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, performs nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Acute Care or Emergency Department; and perform other related duties as required.
The most competitive candidates must have at least 6 months of Emergency Department Technician (EDT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience in an acute care hospital or emergency department. The LVN I is the first working level in the LVN series, performing a full range of nursing duties in a learning capacity under supervision. LVN II has one year or more of nursing experience.
A state license is required, and incumbents perform a more highly skilled form of nursing care.

Work Schedule- Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Please note that work schedule and shift times are subject to change based on departmental needs.
- Provide nursing care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; prepare patients for physicians, registered nurses, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and care for patients during treatment; administer medications using subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, subdermal, and/or oral methods.
- Take vital signs; apply and change dressings; care for wounds; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis; assist physicians, registered nurses, and mid-level providers in performing examinations, tests, respiratory care and other treatments including minor surgical procedures, PAP smears and colposcopies.
- Perform venipuncture and injections of medications; administer immunizations; conduct tuberculin, coccidioidin, and histoplasmin tests as part of tuberculosis control programs.
- Document within the Nurse Practice Act; chart treatments and medications; maintain medical records; collect data for scheduling and continuity of care.
- Counsel, advise and educate patients; set clinic appointments; refer patients for specialty care to outside agencies as appropriate.
- Assist in administration of special treatments, examinations, and intravenous therapy; chart treatments and medications; maintain records per practice standards.
- Assist in medical records; participate in data collection, preparation, and implementation of patient care plans; participate in patient education and rehabilitation programs.
- Monitor patients’ condition and report significant changes to the supervisor; may act under supervision as a nursing leader over health services assistants and other LVNs.
Licensed Vocational Nurse I:
- Salary range: $27.41 - $40.18 Hourly
- Experience:
At least 6 months of Emergency Department Technician (EDT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience in an acute care hospital or emergency department. - Knowledge:
Current principles, techniques and procedures used in vocational nursing; medical terminology; acute care procedures and equipment; medication administration; setting policies and procedures. - Ability:
Perform the full range of vocational nursing duties; follow policies and procedures; establish and maintain relationships with staff; complete and maintain patient records; make accurate observations and report them.
Licensed Vocational Nurse II:
- Salary range: $29.01 - $42.52 Hourly
- Experience:
At least one year of successful LVN experience, preferably in a public health clinic or acute care hospital ER setting. - Knowledge:
Similar to LVN I—nursing principles, medical terminology, procedures, and policies. - Ability:
Similar to LVN I—execute nursing duties and maintain documentation and patient records.
