Cardiothoracic PCU Assistant Nurse Manager – Evenings

Location:

Valley Park, Missouri

Job Type: Staff, Ongoing

Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to the Nurse Manager and direct reports, coordinating patient care, managing performance, and overseeing equipment and staffing for a cardiac progressive care unit.

Responsibilities
  • Hire, train, assign work, manage and evaluate performance of staff.
  • Ensure productivity meets departmental operational goals.
  • Participate in staffing, revenue, and expense budgeting.
  • Provide patient care according to planned interventions and document per policy.
  • Create and implement collaborative care plans based on assessment and diagnosis.
  • Review staff hours versus scheduled hours, approve payroll updates, and reconcile time cards.
  • Coordinate staff communications, prepare huddle agendas, and lead meetings.
  • Determine staffing needs, assign overtime, and recommend annual increases.
  • Interview for open positions, conduct performance reviews, issue corrective actions, and follow up on disciplinary actions.
Safety‑Sensitive Position

This position requires constant alertness and safe conduct, as it is classified as safety‑sensitive.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • 2–5 years RN experience.
  • Supervisor experience is not required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5–10 years RN experience.
  • Less than 2 years of supervisory experience.
