Job Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiac PCU – Progressive Care Unit (High‑Risk Cardiology, Night Shift) at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, Valley Park, Missouri.

Position provides direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care for patients with myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension. Focus on patient‑ and family‑centered care, education, patient safety, quality compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is a safety‑sensitive position requiring constant alertness.

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on post‑treatment home care and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members and the patient/family.
• Ensures proactive planning and communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.

  Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  Less than 2 years in high‑risk cardiology or related field.
