Position Summary
Don’t miss this opportunity to join our team at WashU Department of Pediatrics! This Staff Nurse II position supports our outpatient, pediatric multi‑specialty clinics. This position provides specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, etc., in a medical office according to established procedures. This is a weekday, daytime position.
Scheduled Hours40 hours per week.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental); collects and analyzes data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.
- Directs and/or provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
- Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/family regarding disease process and symptom management.
- Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
- Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates cost‑effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.
- Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcome.
- Professional contributions, including presentations, preceptorships/mentorships, committee participation, community service, inclusion on research or professional publications or local, regional or national professional organization leadership roles.
- Performs other duties as outlined in specialty‑specific job responsibilities.
Job Location/Working Conditions. Normal office environment, exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, requires protective devices, patient care setting, direct patient care setting.

Certifications / Professional Licenses- Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support – American Red Cross
- Registered Nurse – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Registered Nurse – Missouri Division of Professional Registration

AdditionalRequired Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Completion of National Specialty Certification relevant to the area where working, if applicable.
- Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
- Advanced clinical skills (e.g., PALS, ACLS, IV Certification, Bone Marrow Biopsy).
- Bachelor’s degree – Nursing
- M.S. – Master of Science – Nursing
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Bone Marrow Biopsy, Clinical Care, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Emergency Care, Emergency Situations, Epic EHR, General Nursing, HIPAA Regulations, IV Infusions, Medical Oncology, Medical Record Reviews, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pediatrics, Renal Nursing, Vital Signs

Salary Range$60,800.00 – $ per annum.
