Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high quality, safe care.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking to provide individualized care. - Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
- Partners with the patient and significant others (as appropriate) using appropriate methods for setting and purpose (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just-in-time and planned patient teaching) and keeps them updated while making the patient’s goals the focus of the plan of care.
- Uses current clinical practice standards.
- Teamwork and
Collaboration:
Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes a professional care delivery model, including diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods, timely documentation, and a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. - Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration with fiscal responsibility, promoting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participates and supports performance improvement initiatives, including research and evidence utilization to promote safe, quality patient care, and actively supports/shared governance at all system levels.
- Professional Development and Initiative:
Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, and population-specific education; serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students to build a qualified future workforce. - Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and data collection; poses relevant clinical questions and consults experts to address practice questions. - Resources and Support:
Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum; participates in protocol and procedure development; supports efficient use of human and material resources to achieve best-practice outcomes.
Minimum Education
- Associate degree in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree/Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing (preferred)
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) – required
- RN-Compact – Registered Nurse – Multi-state Compact – required
- BLS – Basic Life Support – required
- ARC-BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support – required
- BLS-I – Basic Life Support – Instructor – required
- Minimum 1 year of direct patient care nursing experience.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care, and possess basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner.
- Excellent time-management skills.
- Practice nursing using evidence and analytical skills, possessing strong critical-thinking skills.
