Overview

This is an opportunity to become part of a dedicated team supporting public safety, working in a correctional facility where professionalism, resilience, and teamwork are essential.
Responsibilities- Perform professional nurse duties including administration of blood, blood components, IV medications, parenteral nutrition, central line therapy, etc., under close supervision of a registered nurse of higher level.
- Assist in developing nursing plan of care for patients in assigned units.
- Make regular patient rounds to observe and assess patients’ physical conditions and behaviors and record observations on patient charts.
- Receive and fulfill physicians’ instructions regarding patient care and transmit orders, as needed, to other departments.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and record patients’ mental and physical health histories.
- Assist in emergency code situations.
- Instruct and educate patients in health and hygiene procedures and self‑administration of prescribed medications.
- Administer medications and treatments in a timely manner in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi‑state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
- Valid for a 24‑hour facility; shift work may be required.
- Drug‑free workplace policy is required.
Appointment Type: Probation, or promotion of a permanent, classified Louisiana state employee.
- Current permanent classified Louisiana state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
- Registered Nurse 1: SER $29.84 per hour.
- Registered Nurse 2: SER $31.93 per hour.
- Registered Nurse 3: SER $34.17 per hour.
Premium pay of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
