LPN Charge Nurse - Nights

Full-time Description

Full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position located in Osage Beach, MO.

$7,500 SIGN ON BONUS FOR FULL TIME NEW HIRE

As an LPN, you will provide basic medical attention to patients and assess their wellbeing as part of a larger medical team. The role requires patience, compassion, and a desire to care for the elderly in a gentle and empathetic manner.

• Coordinate the nursing care of residents on the unit, ensuring all residents are assigned a nurse aide capable of providing care to the resident.
• Use independent judgment and discretion on behalf of the organization in the performance of these duties.
• Provide safe and accurate medication-related interventions to residents.
• Administer and document medications and treatments according to each resident’s medication schedule and current standards of medication pass technique.
• Know the rationale for the effect of medications and treatments and correctly administer same.
• Provide treatments per the physician order, including wound care, urinary catheterization, oxygen care, tracheostomy care, etc.
• Order and receive medications from the pharmacy.
• Conduct accurate accounting of all narcotics, signing for count and exchange of keys to medication carts and medication room.
• Promptly respond to resident requests for pain intervention and document such in the resident record.
• Accurately transcribe and coordinate the implementation of physician orders.
• Perform nursing assessments regarding the health status of residents.
• Notify the physician of changes in status and promptly implement and document new orders.
• Prepare work assignment sheets, taking into consideration resident safety, educational preparation, experience, knowledge, and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
• Report staff shortages to nursing management.
• Participate and communicate employee actions that may result in reward or discipline.

• Must hold a current state license to practice as an LPN. Current CPR certification and additional certification in nursing specialty desired.
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic nursing practice with an interest in gerontological nursing.
• Prefer 2 years’ experience in a long-term care setting.
• Basic computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
