Overview
Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Nights in La Plata, MD. 13‑week travel contract for experienced L&D / maternal‑newborn RNs supporting labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Job Details- Location: La Plata, Maryland (20646)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12‑hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- Unit: Labor & Delivery (4 Bed LDR, 1 OR, 2 Triage/Ante Labor and Delivery units; Mother‑Baby unit with 12 beds)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Coverage: As scheduled
- Floating: Required within L&D and Mother‑Baby/Postpartum units
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,070 – $2,180 (estimated)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (2 years preferred); strong 1‑year L&D/perinatal nursing candidates considered.
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand at time of submission).
- BLS and ACLS (AHA only).
- NCC C‑EFM certification (required in hand at time of submission).
- NRP (AAP or NRP only).STABLE certification preferred.
- Epic charting experience preferred.
- Comfortable floating across Labor & Delivery, Mother‑Baby/Postpartum, and assisting with GYN/Women’s Surgical patients.
- References: 2 satisfactory professional references from most recent employers (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN acceptable).
- Permanent residence must be 50+ miles from the facility (per travel assignment eligibility).
- Provide comprehensive maternal‑newborn care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
- Circulate for C‑sections, assist with vaginal deliveries, and support surgical cases.
- Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and couplet care.
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and monitor epidural anesthesia.
- Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using electronic fetal monitoring (EFM/C‑EFM).
- Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education and discharge teaching.
- Educate parents on newborn care, car seat safety, and post‑discharge instructions.
- Float as needed to Mother‑Baby/Postpartum units and assist with GYN/Women’s Surgical patients.
- Document clinical care accurately using Epic (electronic medical record).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and other support services.
