Registered Nurse | Specialized Geriatric Program

Position Summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Specialized Geriatric Program at Kelowna Health & Service Centre in Kelowna, BC. This permanent role requires a reliable, flexible and motivated individual ready to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

• Completes a comprehensive assessment of the physiological, psychological, socio‑cultural and spiritual needs of the client and family unit and determines client status and responses to actual or potential health problems.
• Coordinates and oversees overall care, sets priorities, provides clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plans and implements health care treatments and interventions, and assigns and delegates tasks as appropriate.
• Ensures the client/family unit actively participates in development, implementation and ongoing modification of the plan of care, including short‑term and long‑term goals.
• Develops and implements learning plans to meet identified client learning needs and maintains and advances own clinical competence.
• Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and participates in rounds and/or patient care conferences to ensure effective, consistent and comprehensive care planning and delivery.
• Reviews pertinent data from investigative procedures and other team members, incorporates findings into the plan of care.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Successful completion of a Gerontological Nursing Certificate and advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of foot care and/or continence.
• Two (2) years’ recent clinical experience caring for older adults and their families, including applying gerontological nursing knowledge and principles in a team‑based care setting.

Casual opportunity. Casual employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0‑37.5 hours per week on an as‑needed basis. Shifts rotate from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00.
