Full-Time Position Summary Buffalo Prairie Care Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to join our nursing team. The CMT is responsible for safely administering medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse while providing exceptional resident care in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations. This position plays a vital role in promoting resident health, comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Follow the "Five Rights" of medication administration and facility medication policies.
Observe residents for medication effectiveness and adverse reactions and promptly report concerns to the licensed nurse.
Accurately document medication administration and treatments in the electronic medical record.
Obtain and record vital signs as required before administering medications.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility as needed.
Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance.
Maintain medication carts, treatment carts, and medication storage areas in a clean, organized, and secure manner.
Monitor medication supplies and notify nursing staff when refills are needed.
Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed.
Communicate changes in resident condition to the licensed nurse immediately.
Follow infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures.
Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Participate in shift reports, care conferences, and required in-service education.
Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
Qualifications Current Missouri Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification in good standing.
Current Missouri Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification preferred or as required by state regulations.
Current CPR certification preferred.
Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is preferred but not required.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents safely.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary.
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
