Overview
Registered Nurse ER opportunity at Lee's Summit Medical Center, part of the HCA Healthcare family. Eligible candidates provide patient-centered, high-quality care in the Emergency Department in alignment with department standards and state/specialty requirements.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the department's required scope and standards.
- Collaborate with medical providers and the care team to offer individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models (Assess, Perform, Teach, Manage).
- Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management, with reassessments after interventions.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate and resolve needs.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures; translate complex medical terminology for clear understanding.
- Educate on non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
- Prepare patients and families for future self-management.
- RN—registered nurse with license appropriate to state requirements.
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
