Acute Care Charge Nurse (RN)

We are looking for an experienced RN to serve as Charge Nurse on the 25‑Bed Acute Care Medicine unit at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital, South Campus in Valley Park, Missouri.

• Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the unit on a designated shift.
• Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff.
• Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit.
• Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into ambulatory care settings.
• Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate.
• Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team.
• Anticipates and prioritizes complex care needs, anticipating barriers, incorporating interprofessional team and caregiver/family input, and identifies opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
• Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices.
• Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice.
• Analyses gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership.
• Leads the evaluation of the patient and family experience, and adjusts care provided to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.

• 2–5 years RN experience. No supervisory experience required.
• RN license (must be currently licensed).
• BSN preferred (due to BJH Magnet Status designation).

• 5–10 years RN experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
