You know that the right diagnosis, the right application, and the right care can turn a problem property into a neighborhood showpiece — and you take real pride in making that happen. At Ryan Lawn & Tree, we're looking for a Turf Trainee who's ready to be both a skilled technician and a trusted advisor — the person homeowners call when their lawn needs saving and the person who delivers results that actually last.
WhatYou'll Do
- Own your route. Manage a route of 400–500 customers, delivering consistent, high-quality service on every visit.
- Learn to diagnose and solve. Identify lawn problems others can't see and prescribe specific solutions that actually work for each individual property.
- Deliver the full package. Complete turf bid requests, fertilization applications, aeration, seeding, and service calls across your customer base.
- Be the expert. Develop a thorough knowledge of turfgrass practices as well as all other Ryan services so you can be a true resource for your customers.
- Build relationships. Provide excellent account management and customer service — earning the trust of homeowners who take pride in their outdoor spaces.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license; ability to obtain DOT certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued pesticide applicator license (turfgrass) within 3 months.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- A curious, problem‑solving mindset and a genuine love for the outdoors.
- SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION:
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the operation of vehicles and equipment. All candidates must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screen (including marijuana), criminal background check, MVR check, and DOT physical (where applicable) before starting employment. Candidates must meet all screening requirements as a condition of employment.
- Full time year around employment with a starting compensation of $48,000 - $53,000 depending on experience with bonuses available.
